LeonaLeona Louise Lewis was born on the 3rd of April 1985, is an actress, singer, and activist from Britain. Born and raised in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she went to the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis was noticed by the world as she was selected for the third series on The X Factor 2006 and got a deal worth one million pounds through Syco music. The winning single in the contest, which was a cover Kelly Clarkson's hit song "A Moment Like This" had 50,000 downloads within 30 minutes . It topped the charts at #1 for 4 weeks. Clive Davis' label, J Records, signed Lewis to a deal for five albums in February 2007. The success of Lewis continued after the launch of her first album of her own, Spirit (2007), which was certified platinum at 10x in the UK and became the fourth-highest-selling album of the 2000s and one of the best-selling albums in UK chart record-setting. In the words of the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the highest-selling debut album from female singers at the turn of the century. Its lead single "Bleeding Love" that lasted seven weeks on high on the UK charts, was the top-selling single of the year 2007. It also was the biggest-selling song in the US during the same time. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award next year. Echo was her sophomore studio album. The album also featured the hit song "I Love You" on behalf of Avatar. In the year 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide", a collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and also her first extended work, Hurt: The EP. Her album Glassheart, her third studio effort, Glassheart (2012), was a departure in direction for Lewis and her music, drawing on dubstep and electronic music. Her Glassheart Tour was in the mid-year of 2013, and she started recording material to create her first Christmas album. Christmas, with Love came out later in the year and its lead single, "One More Sleep" was a top three hit on the charts in the UK. Through this chart entry, Lewis was the very first British single female to make it into the top five , with eight singles. This was more than Olivia Newton John's record of seven.
